In this session we will give an introduction to the RightsStatements.org project. RightsStatements.org provides a set of standardized internationally interoperable rights statements for cultural heritage institutions to communicate the copyright and reuse status of digital objects that they make available to the public. This session will discuss how Rights Statements relates to the CC licenses, how it serves the need of aggregation platforms like the DPLA and Europeana and how CC licenses and statements work together to allow cultural heritage institutions to describe copyright status.
